Because radishes are transported and stored near freezing temperature freezing injury is sometimes seen in the market place. Stock which has experienced freezing injury will appear translucent upon thawing. Severely frozen product will soften and shrivel. Temperature maintenance is also critical as radishes are both packed top ice which creates high humidity conditions and the product is often shipped in plastic containers. The high moisture and plastic containers give rise to a number of molds and decays if proper temperatures are not maintained.
